How long have you been a hairstylist and makeup artist? Where are you based?
I received my Master Cosmetologist license March 2010 and have been working as a licensed hairstylist since then. I started cutting and styling hair almost a decade before I decided to pursue it as a career. I started offering makeup services October 2013 when I started Intensify by Patience. I am currently based in Warner Robins, GA.
Do you work out of a salon or studio? How far will you travel to provide services?
I do not own or work out of a salon, however I do hold appointments at my home in Warner Robins, GA. I also offer the option to travel to my clients. A travel fee will be incurred that is dependent on the amount of miles I have to travel. I love traveling both for leisure and business! I am willing to travel to any state within the USA and even internationally! So far I have serviced clients in Vermont, Washington, Wyoming, Montana, California, Tennessee, Florida, Alabama, The Carolinas, and all over Georgia.
Do you offer air-brush makeup services?
I do not offer air-brush makeup. I love the traditional, natural process of makeup application. I know that air-brush is a big trend right now, but I feel that one of the things that should not be replaced by a machine or technology is the art of makeup.
What brands of hair and makeup products do you use?
I use a variety of makeup brands. I would say my kit is 99% professional products and a few drugstore favorites. I have found that some drugstore brands work just as well as some of the professional makeup out there. Here is a list of brands that are kit staples:
Estée Lauder, Natasha Denona, Fenty Beauty, Glossier, RCMA, Makeup Forever, Urban Decay, Too Faced, Benefit Cosmetics, Tarte, L’oreal, Dose of Colors, etc.
As far as hair products, I am a Kenra fanatic!!! I use the BEST hairspray on the market, Kenra Professional Volume Spray 25. Nothing compares to Kenra 25 to me! I am a fan for life! I use the full range of Kenra styling products. Some other product brands I use are KMS, Design.Me, AG hair.
Do you practice sanitation during sessions?
Yes I do! Sanitation is important and should be a practice of any professional makeup artist. I use a freshly cleaned set of makeup brushes on each and every client, especially when servicing bridal parties/groups of ladies. I use waterproof mascara and I apply it to a separate disposable mascara wand for each coat to prevent double dipping. I apply lipstick to a palette or back of my hand before applying it to a client's lips. I never apply lipstick to lips straight from the tube unless I am giving/selling that tube to the client. I also sanitize my hands in between and before I touch each clients face. When I style hair, you will NEVER see me whip out a brush loaded with previous clients' hair or use bobby pins that have been used in anyone else's hair. I use separate, clean combs and brushes for each client and any bobby pins used are brand new.
How long will my makeup last? Will it come off easily and will I need to touch-up?
With normal, daily activity, my makeup applications last 16 to 24 hours, even in Georgia’s notorious humidity and heat. I have had testimonial after testimonial of clients having to literally scrub their makeup off and clients whose makeup lasted through a day of running around with kids. I’ve even had clients sleep in their makeup, only to find it looked just as good the next day. The only thing that will need touching up are your lips and I gift my brides a lip color. Bridesmaids/mothers are responsible for bringing their own touchup lipstick/gloss.
